Vision:

Asset Protection While Seeking Growth

Mission:

Detlefsen Nel & Associates is an investment and retirement planning firm that aims to help people invest with confidence. We provide comprehensive financial planning through LPL Financial, emphasizing both growth and risk management. We design strategies and manage client investment portfolios with the aim of creating and preserving wealth for our clients.

LPL Financial Research – Outlook 2012

While the last few years have been highlighted with record swings in market returns and widely oscillating economic data, LPL Financial Research expects 2012 will be less about the fringes and more about the middle. While volatility is likely to remain elevated, the market and its economic backdrop may begin to migrate from the extremes — oftentimes even polarized extremes — toward a more normalized period where investor sentiment, economic activity and the market's direction start to move increasingly in alignment.

Why is a Sand Dollar our symbol?

Found on the Pacific Ocean beaches, the sand dollar is considered the 'wealth' of the ocean.

Our Pacific Ocean was named by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. During his explorations he considered the Pacific to be calm, peaceful and passive, compared to the sometimes turbulent and stormy Atlantic.

We introduce stability to our clients' investments to help protect against turbulent and 'stormy' market behavior. Our approach is asset protection while seeking growth.

What is your current advisor's investment theory?

All financial advisors follow a theory about investments and economics when they provide investment advice. A robust debate has been taking place concerning the usefulness of contemporary investment and economic approaches. Will There Be a Shift from Financial Assets To Hard Assets?

Since the first quarter of last year I've expressed my concern about risk assets (particularly equities). In a joint article with Professor Phil Romero in June 2011 we warned that another financial crisis might be just over the horizon-and sure enough it manifested itself as the sovereign debt crisis in the Eurozone.
